Latin Dance for Belly Dancers

Thursdays 8:00-9:30 (1-1/2 hours) with Sana (Joanna).       Studio: Inver Grove Fred Astaire

4-week session runs 6/12 - 7/10 (no class 7/3)

Latin music is a common source of rhythmic and instrumental fusion inspiration for Arabic music, which creates great potential for Latin dance and belly dance fusion! But how do you ensure you understand the rhythms and steps appropriately to truly make a good fusion dance? In this class, you'll learn about the Latin music rhythms, dance steps, and feeling essential to Latin dance, especially those most commonly used with Arabic music. Learn dances like ChaCha, Mambo, Salsa, Samba, Merengue, Rumba, Bolero, Tango and Paso Doble. Learn how to do them by solo or with a partner (no partner is necessary). Learn steps, timing and techniques, styling, arm and hand movements plus and where it all comes from. This class is taught by a certified ballroom and Latin dance instructor with more than 12 years experience teaching Latin and ballroom dance who also happens to be an accomplished belly dancer and member of the Al-Bahira Dance theater performance troupe. Join Sana for a session of great exercise and lots of fun!.

Important note: At least one session of belly dance experience is required. This class is offered as a full session only and is not available on a drop-in basis, unless you have prior Latin dance experience and get prior approval from the instructor. If you think you may qualify for this exception, email info@aalimschool.com.
